Orkid Cosmetics: Buttercream on yo lips!

This week has been just as eventful as the last - if not, more- and to keep the excitement consistent, the weekend ended with a visit from the postman with a special little blue parcel from Orkid Cosmetics that made the little girl in me leap for joy and squeal in excitement.

I was at the Girls' Day Out bazaar at The Co, when I first came across Orkid Cosmetics. Apart from the attractive Matte Lipstick colours that called upon me, I had a lovely chat with the Founder herself, Raneesa. She was a petite and bubbly bundle of joy with a whole lot of enthusiasm when it came to talking about her brand and products. When you first spot Orkid Cosmetics, you'll think sheek, quirky and fun and Raneesa represents her brand like it's her second skin.

When I finally got around to swatching the matte lipsticks on display and trying them on to suit my skin colour, I settled for Mars whereas my sister's personal favourite was Dime. (I'll be sure to display the colours down below!) To be honest, we couldn't choose for ourselves but thankfully we had Raneesa to select a colour for us. And I can't deny the fact that she chose spot-on!

Fast-forward to a few weeks after the event, upon receiving my special blue parcel, I couldn't wait to relive the day I tried on the matte lipsticks at the event.

Before I proceed any further, I should probably correct myself. These aren't just Matte Lipsticks; these are Matte Suede Liquid Lipsticks - why suede? Well, because unlike other Liquid Matte Lipsticks, not only do these lipsticks glide on our lips so effortlessly, they are also non-sticky and non-transferable.

*Ladies, that means you may be able to sneak in a little smooch or two without you're significant other looking like a hot mess after - or in your case, the joker.

(From top: Vibes, Blush, Mars & Lava)

My personal favourite is Mars just because. It suits my light go-to makeup look for casual days when I'm either running errands or going to college. My lips are slightly darker than the skintone of my arm in the picture, so Mars really makes my lips pop with the right amount of colour it needs.

To be honest, this summer (macam lah M'sia has any other seasons lol) I'm really feeling the nude, no-makeup makeup look and nude lips are all the range. I found Vibes, Blush and Mars to suit my skintone pretty well but as for Lava, I reckon it goes much better on darker skintones as it makes this orangey-red colour pop to high heavens. If I were to wear it, I'd probably need to have a bright, vibrant outfit to rock it with!

In the picture above, I'm wearing Mars on the left and on the right picture, I'm wearing Blush. Notice how different they look from the colours you see displayed on the Orkid Cosmetics website. It comes as no surprise because on the website, it was already stated that the colours may vary and thus the results of the colours may vary due to factors such as monitor resolution settings, lighting and skintone etc.

Note: Sometimes the result of the colours may vary depending on whether you're using your front camera for a close-up or the back-camera.

Wanna know what's my ultimate favourite part of these Matte Suede Lipsticks? It's the fact that there's added Vitamin E in it's ingredients which helps in moisturising your lips and keeping it supple. Ever since I started wearing lipsticks, it has been a real pain looking for lipsticks which are Matte but are also moisturising.

I mean, ladies, we want a matte lipstick with the feel of a cream-based lipstick but don't want it to smudge and also want it to last long. And also want it to moisturise your lips at the same time.

DEII!

So many criterias just for a lipstick but what to do, we ladies are like this.

I've tried many other brands but nothing comes close to Orkid Cosmetics range of Matte lipsticks, especially for the price of RM39. WHAT?!

Yup, ONLY RM39. I know it costs slightly more than Colourpop but trust me when I tell you that you wouldn't mind the extra few dollars once you've tried them on. And if you can afford Kylie's Matte Lipkits, you can sure as hell afford this. It's worth every penny!

Apart from it's very appealing colours and moisturising element that captured my heart, I also hold very dear to me the fact that it's cruelty-free. Many makeup brands in the market usually test on animals (I won't be dropping any names but you can always let Google be your guide) and although most people don't mind it, I do. And it's so nice to see up-and-coming makeup brands who make it point to be cruelty-free. Oh and it's also vegan and wudu-friendly. In other words, HALAL. So to all my Muslim beauties, rejoice!

Goodbye Colourpop, I have a new fav in town!

Love, Krissy xx

Got it! Thanks loves.
